Andrew Lindsay, Sports presenter from ITV's Granda Reports, decided to use Haslingden in the "I love the North West" feature. He mentions a number of historical events in Haslingdens past, including information on Michael Davitt's time here. You can watch the programe below.

The celebration was made possible by a £36,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

A number of events took place in March 2006 culminating in the visit to Haslingden by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese. The programme of events can be downloaded here.
